Started acting up last year, when it would just suddenly switch off. Yesterday it would stay on for 5 seconds before switching off. So charged NiMH batteries and light worked; 3 settings plus flash mode. However, this morning when I really needed them on for 5 seconds then off! Took a standby Tesco Cree torch, but not impressed with Hope

Hope Vision One's are usually bombproof. I am surprised that you have a problem.
Get in touch with Hope. Their customer service is very good excellent.

Are you sure it's not a dodgy battery?
I have a set of rechargables that did the same, put new ones in and the light is perfect again.

It sounds more like dodgy batteries to me to as the Hope does just switch off when there's not enough power. Try running in it on duracell or other non-rechargeable battery and see what happens.

Change the batteries. Are you using a smart charger ? - i.e. one that cherges the individual cells as this prolongs battery life, and the chargers usually tell you if you have a duff cell.

To summarise, the light turns off when the batteries aren't charged, and works fine when the batteries are charged.

I wouldn't be blaming the Hope without checking the batteries thoroughly.

Whilst I was looking at the Hope web site for their contact details I saw they had a vid about their lights. They recommended 2500 mAh batteries, checked mine and what do you know, only 1500 mAh! So charged my 2900 mAh spares and I had light! Feel such a doofus!! ;)

yeah they are and bigger too

I have a feeling they don't hmmph
I use rechargeable 2700mah AAs in mine and have a spare holder so that I can easily swap them over if they run out. The 2700s are usually enough for a full night (ie this time of year) on setting 1 with some setting 2 use as required.

I get 8 hours easy out of setting 2 on 2700's.
