Hopefully someone learned it's not cool to hate cyclists

On a ride with a friend of mine over the weekend and he told me about some cycle hate he's experienced.

He's a builder and he was running a job on a big house up in the Lake District. He was out on a run one evening and a van went past (leaving plenty of space apparently) and as it passed the passenger shouted out the window "WAAA****************EEEEER" which made him jump out his skin.

He recognised the van as belonging to a plasterer that he had asked in the day before to quote for a massive job on the house. He said the van turned off towards Ambleside and he knew from the time of day and the traffic he'd catch up so he went the same way.

He reached the van at some lights, pulled up alongside the passenger window and calmly asked to the shocked passenger "Sorry, what did you say?" after a few seconds of the passenger squirming he looked across at the driver who was the boss of the company and said "you obviously can't control your staff so don't waste your time submitting the quote I asked for"

He didn't get the quote submitted.

Love it.

The guys that did my conservatory were all mad keen roadies and we talked bikes so much I didn't think they'd actually finish the job on time.

I do try to avoid giving business to firms where their drivers have either been on their mobiles or given me close passes. I awaiting the next Virgin spam through my doorway so that I can write some comment about mobiles on it, (not that they were going to get my business anyway, but I like to put something different on the letter each time before I pop it back in the letter box).

I pretty much would not be able to get a cab been badly overtaken by ask the local companies.

Have you ever been in a cbn where the the driver has since a close overtake or something?

It's your duty to make use of pre paid envelopes. With the amount of spam we get thru the post I'm thinking I can reduce my refuse collections...

Yep - just swap over the contents.

The other one is to simply put it back in the post marked - return to sender

We used to get quite a few of those "European Trade Directory" scam letters. "Send us your business details for inclusion". All well and good until you read the tiny print which says it's going to cost you 675 Euros.
I used to put rectangles of 18mm MDF in the prepaid envelopes and send them back to Lichtenstein with a rude message. Childish but great fun.

I do, but I can't help writing a little more on the envelope each time, and I like to make it a little interesting for the person reading it. Do they actually make it back to the original company or do Royal Mail bin them?

Many end up in the hands of private companies, who have been given the job of what to do with them. Royal Mail not having the staff to do it.
