Getting old but not past it

I have had a bad back for the last few days and been unable to ride. I think it is due to my job of sitting in a car for hours on end and eventually it catches up with me.
Anyway, I have been planning to ride to my daughter's house on saturday ( 35 miles each way) so really hope that my back will be ok by then although training is non-existent at the moment.
My daughter came to me last sunday and I gave her a change of clothes for when I get there so I can travel light.
I am taking pain killers to ease my back and I think they are beginning to work. Fingers crossed!

Thats alot of mileage in one go for a dodgy back, personally I would leave it and do some less demanding rides until I knew it was ok.

To perhaps kill the pain temporarily if paracetamol dont work well, try some Diclofenac from the pharmacy. Non prescription, you can take them with paracetamol, works for me every time.
Same a Voltarol but cheaper (cos they're ubranded i guess)
IIRC theyre about £7 for 18 tablets.

I wouldn't do that much that soon, it may make it worse and the recover take longer. I know that's partly what happened with me.

I know current medical advice is to keep moving, but I don't think that includes a 70 mile round trip!

Hope its better soon

To get to the root of the problem, not sure of the car involved but some are notoriously bad [Astras for one]. Even if it has lumbar support adjustment try a back cushion. This is more common than the manufacturers like to let on and is often caused by pedals being slightly offset to the left.
