Indeed. They tend to come with a space safer spare leg.

Or not.

Mrs C has a Clio that has no spare of any kind, just an emergency repair inflator with some sealant. My Dad has waxed lyrical many times in recent years about not having a spare in the new cars he's bought and them being an optional (paid for) extra. I think a lot of the time it comes down to how the car was specified originally.

In addition make a claim against the council for the cost of a new tyre and the parking charge. I did when I hit a pothole which dented the wheel on both inside and outside rims. At first they denied the claim but told me that guidelines state that roads have to be inspected every six months and this road had been inspected five months previously therefore the council hadn't been negligent. However they also told me the police had reported the pothole 11 days before I hit it and it was repaired the same day, the police reported it the day after because the temporary repair had failed and again repaired the same day. I replied saying a temporary repair should last until a permanent repair can be done and the fact it hadn't lasted showed negligence or incompetence. I also queried why when the police report a pothole it's repaired the same day, but when I've reported it it still hasn't been repaired 10 days later. They replied asking for receipts for the wheel and tyre.

I think you missed the point of the wheeze.

Tonight I take a trip to the little Tesco up the road, about 200m before it my front wheel goes bang into the biggest pothole I've ever banged into.

I park up at Tesco and do my shopping, then come out to find a flat tyre.

At 17:55 I phone the AA who first say they'll be there at 20:20, then ten minutes later I get a text saying 18:55.

At 20:00 it changes to 21:20,and finally the van turns up at 22:15.

Whilst I'm waiting I notice a sign from Horizon Parking stating a maximum stay of thirty minutes with a £70 charge for overstaying.

If I get the letter I'll appeal it, just wondering if anyone's been in this situation, and how did it go for you?

Had a similar situation last year in Sainsbury’s Derby. Went into the store and explained the situation to them and they logged my registration so that I didn’t get a fine. A couple of staff even came out to the car later, when RAC were there, to ensure that my number had been recorded. They even recorded the RAC reg too just in case

Lots of Hospitals local to me slap tickets on cars often(may parked horrendously so stuff them however the nurses have limited parking and are often suffering tickets....none of them get paid to my knowledge and nothing is done beyond a number of nasty looking letters sent....not once has someone we know been taken to court, bailiffs etc.
I once broke down at Birch services(M62) and paid the parking fee, the AA guy told me all I had to do was tell the services manager(hmmm I'm not sure this is a thing) and write a letter the head office and the payment isn't needed....again I'm not sure if I'd trust this but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

An update on this, I went back a few days later to have a good look at the sign, besides mentioning the half hour limit it said that it would be monitored by either cameras or traffic wardens.

I couldn't see any cameras so hopefully the signs are there just to try and frighten people as I've not heard anything from them.

Cool. They only have 14 days, you're free and clear.
