Apparently i'm the only one who goes into my local Morrison's wearing cycle clothing. One of the staff told me this, saying that my nickname is last minute cyclist, Because i go in 10 minutes before they close and i wear cycle gear. To think i'm the only customer who fits that description makes me realise how cycling is ridiculed by the plebs!

They probably have names for all their regulars, I wouldn't worry.

Oh now there's a thing - Go in in your normal clothes the next time and see if anyone notices!!

I had one a few days ago in a shop, man and woman, her pushing a pushchair and having heated discussion. He went one side of a display, he went the other, both still rabbiting on, I followed her a few feet behind her.
They meet up at other side of display, she had obviously thought that the presence behind her was him, so when she realised it wasn't her reaction was yet another go at him and that she was talking to "some other farking daffodil". What did I do to get called that? The child in earshot in the pushchair was a nice touch too,

Caught by the swear filter there.

People often behave like that because their lives are out of their control. Their partners, their children, their finances, their weight., whatever is uppermost in their list of calamities.
And maybe you're not fat. Or worrying about overdue bills. Or your out of control kids. Maybe you look like you had a nice day, cycling around, doing whatever you like, pleasing yourself without a care in the world while she has had nothing but stress all weekend and nobody could get up off their backsides and be bothered to come and help her with the shopping.
If you could rewind I bet you would have handled it better.
Me, I have 20-20 hindsight.

No excuse for bad manners and abuse though is it, or maybe she was just a particularly nasty piece of work who didn't want Mr nice guy jumping the queue. i have been there and had to deal with someone in very similar circumstances, regardless of how stressed someone might be there is never an excuse for downright bloody mindedness and blatant bad manners.

We let 5 people go in front last week when we had a large shop, at which point we had done our bit for queue shortening, of course the people who had just arrived on the end of the queue did not know this.

We have to remember that a lot of this aggro wouldn't happen if supermarkets still had 10 items or less checkouts. Having said that some would push it and take 12 or 15 items through, causing anxiety to the one behind who sees this blatant cheating!
Going back to wearing cycle clothing in supermarkets, Last Sunday i was there in my cycling gear using the self serve machine in Morrison's when i put my beer through which requires proof of age clearance from the assistant. A nasty woman started tutting saying to the person behind her things like how long is he going to take, like i make the rules about alcohol purchase clearance. This set me off, I didn't reply but put my back to her and took as long as possible, putting all my loose change in the machine, then scrutinising my receipt when it eventually came out the slow moving machine A few more nasty comments were made before she blew her top then slammed down her basket right next to me. The basket fell off and dropped on her foot causing her to shout out in pain and anger! I left with a satisfied smirk on my face.:giggle:

@speccy1 you seem to have had a few big things on your mind on here, own business, cycle club angst, wasn't there some mention of liking the idea of upping and moving to Yorkshire.

Genuine concerned question & I know I'm a complete stranger but are you ok and your normal self (maybe ask a friend or two) and maybe could you do with a chat with someone to set things in an order & perspective and undo a few mental knots.

Boiling over and shouting at people in public, even if the Jezza K analogy for her is right, isn't really that rational outside of the same Jezza K demographic.
I`m sorry but I find this offensive, I am not going nuts, I lost my temper, I am human, it happens to most people

I'm curious. If the offending person in question had been of the male rather than the female persuasion, what word would you have used instead of "bitch"?

I'm curious as to why it is expected that she would have had to let you push in?

Yes, she could have not lashed out, but you expected to push in and were sarcastic when not allowed. Maybe she was in a rush?
