I was watching Carnival Row (a fantasy thing on Amazon Prime) and a few places like orphanages and schools had a model of a person hanging from a noose high up on the wall. I thought how grotesque, and then how we just accept having an execution device used almost as an ornament (worse when they have a bleeding Jesus on them).

Sorry - hot cross buns are far more cheerful! Carry on...

not as exciting for all those matrons contemplating a writhing near naked male in its prime though.
Have often thought it a good job christ wasn't female - words would be had I'm sure if blokes trotted off to a smoke-filled place to contemplate the equivelent.
