You won't get one. If you do it won't be the truth for the simple fact it would definitely leave them open to being sued not that you can't do so now.

I would report the transactions to your card issuer as fraudulent as they were made without your permission. Get your cards changed as then they won't be able to deduct more money in future when they are feeling a bit short. Write a stern letter to them advising that you consider them a poorly run hotel, the customer service equally shoddy and should you wish to stay in their area again you would consider a fresh cowpat a better alternative then stay with them.

I'm confident I will get an explanation. Have faith Cranky.

Maybe it's how you ask the question......

Intresting views as always.

I'm not after a penny from them, I am however after an explanation and a sorry. If it had stopped at once I would have not even raised it, but doing it twice really shocked me.

It was on my credit card so hasn't cost me a single penny.

What most annoyed me was the attitude of the manager when I raised it, very dimissive.

Is the hotel part of a chain? If so, you could try complaining about the manager's attitude to the head organisation.

I'm a tad surprised by how easy going some people round here seem to be about this. Once, I would agree, would be just a msiake. shoot happens. And a decent apology would suffice. Twice is more than mere incompetence, in my view. Twice is distinctly dodgy. And a 'dismissive' apology from the manager just wouldn't do it for me. As Spinney says above, is there a food chain you can go up? I'd definitely pursue this, with extreme prejudice. With my CC company and with the hotel and with the chain, if any.

I agree with the above.

If the hotel is genuinely sorry for the mistake, then it should refund you not only the money but any charges you have incurred as a result of said error and once you get there, at least one evening meal for the party should be on the house if that something you'd be paying extra for.

I was more going in for the all you can eat breakfast - when I was a mobile tech support engineer and had to stay overnight in a hotel I'd make sure to get up and make the most of breakfast since the company was paying for it!

The prevailing compensation culture has got a lot to answer for if you think that compensation is an option to your mild inconvenience.

A straightforwards apology would placate me.

as someone else has already said, that amount of money would be overdraft for me, if I looked in my bank and saw it lower than I expected it to be there are various purchases that I would like to make that I'd have to put off - for example, I've got to go and get some euros tomorrow, if a hotel were to take money out at random I'd just have to do without as much money on holiday

not particularly a nice position to be in

is billing done by the individual hotel or centrally? if centrally its head office you need to talk to I'd guess.
