Wow! Cool! I like the idea of going up the river.

One of the best natural swimming pools I've ever seen is a few miles further up that river. My brother and I had a bit of an epic camping in Glen Etive one dark night... but that's another story.

We managed to get a ways up the river, but it did start to narrow down a bit too much for us and low bridges can also be an issue for the taller craft further up! We did however spot a small group of deer bathing in an adjacent stream which was nice! (Photo Courtesy of Matt Robertson).

Gulp - the land of my (Scottish) ancestors! Many family members are buried in a cemetery at the lochside (at Ardchattan Priory, I believe).

Some of my family helped build Connel Bridge which featured early in the video. There is a picture of one family member standing high up on the half-built metal structure. When we used to go up for our annual Highland pilgrimage, I always used to get really excited when I first glimpsed the bridge. In those days, the railway line still went over the bridge and we would have to wait for steam trains to pass before we could drive over.

On a recent visit, I made my way up the west bank of the loch by MTB and toyed with the idea of going all the way round but decided that there would be too much pushing, carrying and burn-crossing, so doubled back to the van at Bonawe quarry.

A mate cycled down Glen Etive and experienced a nightmarish midge attack!

The hovercrafting looks fun, and it is a grand setting for it!

Nice bit of history! I brought my road bike up with me and did a few rides, although the number of trails and forestry roads I came across made me wish I had brought the mountain bike!

I wished that I had my road bike with me as well!

We cycled down from Connel Bridge and over Gleann Salach one day and along some forestry trails to Beinn Lora and down into Benderloch. There had been a fierce storm the week before and huge trees had been snapped and uprooted in the forest.
