I'll never forget seeing this for the first time. Bedford Park, London, 1891. CFA Voysey. It cost £494 to build.

Huge shout to Lutyens too. I nearly bought a Lutyens house once (no, not a famous one), and would have done but for some shenanigans from the seller. It's still a beautiful thing, incidentally - it's one of two inner gatehouses on the last grand house he designed, just before WW2:

One of my first jobs was doing up a Lutyens office in London, even found the original velum drawings with 1920's cars on!
