How can I make a *really* simple one minute movie?

I want to make a really simple one minute movie, of the kind that goes on youtube, out of nothing but words on coloured backgrounds. Like a series of two/three/four word slides, rapidly fading from one to the next. Can anyone suggest the easiest possible way to do this? Googling suggests Windows Moviemaker as a fair starting package - would that do it? Easily? I'm not a total IT numpty, but I've never done anything in this sort of area so be gentle with me. All suggestions gratefully received.

Yup, MovieMaker would be the simplest, I would think. Transitions between slides (fading etc.) and just choose an appropriate font size, font and colours for your slides. Job done.

Moviemaker should do it - it also sounds like a Powerpoint presentation, although I don't know how you make that 'broadcastable' on Youtube...

Run the powerpoint presentation with screen capture software then edit the output in moviemaker ?
Doesn't have to be powerpoint if you don't own it. Openoffice is free and comes with it's own presentation package.

I'm assuming that you're using your own camera, in which case there is likely to be a video editor on the disc that came with it. Otherwise moviemaker will do the trick.

I got version 11 of Pinnacle for £8 of ebay (legal copy with reistration code). It has a few more wizz, bangs though you need a resonably fast computer to run it, 2GB Ram+.

Thanks all - think I'll start out with moviemaker and see how it goes. (I don't have a fast computer...I don't plan on using a camera...just putting a series of 2/3 word statements up on coloured backgrounds.)
