Or why can't you just carry smart panniers? I think it may be that you want cycling equipment but not to look like a cyclist. Nor do many business folk, but they they don't cycle, they use planes, trains and automobiles (taking the latter to the airport or station)

Like I say I want wheels - that's the whole point of this thread! Wheelie luggage is what anyone sensible uses nowadays. I will be carrying fairly heavy weights and walking for long distances. The wheel is the only way forward.

No, a lot of business people DO use bicycles. Particularly if they are young-ish and/or into the environment. It is a fast, efficient mode of transport that is good for the environment. The crunch problem is that it can make you look scruffy and look amateur and like you do not value appearances.

Then such a bag or solution must exist. Like I said try Condor or the like  or you can get wheels

I too travel for business, but mostly overseas so a bicycle is not used. I recently got one of these, it is spacious but will still meet Easyjet's stupid hand baggage rules, wheels and a handle. Can't see why you couldn't bungee it to a rack. Black and smart

Or anything on here?

e.g. you can take with you and leave in reception wherever you are going with your suitcase

Is that an old wooden milk crate? Not sure we have such things here in the UK.
I used to have an old fruit box on the back of one previous bike, but yet it got vandalized with the bike remaining untouched. Drunken people like to attack anything that looks unusual or silly just for laughs. In general leaving anything very unusual on a bike is bad as it attract unwanted attention.

On "big city days" I am cycling 3 - 4 miles into the railway station (down steep hill) and back. Probably 3 such days per week.
I am cycling a fair bit without luggage too.

Occasionally say about 2 or 3 days per month, I would like to put the bike onto the train and cycle around the Big City too. Distances around the Big City would add up to about 5 or 6 mile journeys twice, maybe 3 times per day.

When visiting the Big City I will need to stay up to 2 or 3 nights.

As a thought... do you ned wheels?

An option would be a folding luggage trolley... then leave it locked at the station?

If you mean London (I'll assume so as you mention the UK and the tube up thread), you can't take a full sized bike on the train in rush hour. Probably rules around other cities too, so that's something to consider. You can always hire a Boris bike to ride around after the train. Much easier if it's just 2-3 days a month

@ship69 - After reading this (and the almost identical thread over at the CTC forum) - I feel we're being slowly lead to the conclusion that such a bag doesn't exist and you are going to solve the problem and present us with your product / design / business idea.

As such I'm moving it to the Research and Questionnaires forum where hopefully you'll get some more feedback.

Cheers,
Shaun

Simplest version remains to add the bike fittings as a "retro fit"

Most company's sell the bag fittings as spares

@ship69 The bag I have may just tick all your boxes:

Contact some Dutch or German bike shops, they should know where this kind of thing is currently available. If you've got time, they do come up on eBay from time to time but I'd start with asking Rose Bikes and and European distributors for FastRider bags.

For example, Rose currently has this 43 litre trolley pannier: http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/...r/aid:704198?gclid=CM-8ptWnsMgCFeOD2wodR0AJ9w

No. This is incorrect.

No! Sadly I have not.

Yes - that is almost EXACTLY what I want.

Although:
1. it occurs to me that i would need to be very waterproof.
2. it would be better for wind resistance to be above the rear wheel not beside it)
Very reluctantly - as I just don't have the TIME - it looks like I'm going to have to build the darned thing myself. [deep sigh]

Nonetheless, if I could buy one I would.

Ok can anyone suggest any really good little cabin bags with wheels that ARE waterproof?
