Cyclists dies just as often as anyone else, which is once (as a rule) but until that happens they have more fun.

Amongst the things-that-we-do that are more likely to get us killed than cycling are gardening, DIY and walking.

I did a quick calculation the other week, possibly on an average 3,000 miles a year over 50 years.Chance of dying from a bike accident - 1 in 300.

I hope your maths is wrong 1 in 300 doesn't sound low risk to me I would do the lottery on those odds.

If cycling those miles adds 5 years to your life, with the 1 in 300(or whatever) you have to subtract one thrid of a year.So its 4.66 extra years added.
