How do I clean my helmet?

A good scrubbing and then put the helmet in the freezer overnight.
Most bacteria that survive the scrubbing will not survive the cold.

Wear a buff to soak up sweat; it's easier to wash than a helmet.

If you do wash the helmet use an antibacterial face wash like Clearasil, which contains something like TCC to kill the bugs. Leave it on for a few minutes to do its job.

You can pick up spare/replacement pads for a few quid on Wiggle/CRC - so you could hand wash the pads (if they're going to de-laminate in the machine) and use the spares as they dry.

Happy to find some replacement pads on Wiggle for my Bell Venture. No picture though. When they arrived they were only two thin strips that fit into the top of the helmet, not the main pad at the front which is non-detachable (???) and which is the main sweat sponge.

I've used the good old wet wipes a couple of times a week, but I like the Clearasil idea. Will give it a go. Thanks!
