How do I make the robot see me?

This traffic light never sees me.

It seems to be red on this side all the time until a vehicle approaches, which it sees and duly changes to green. It does not see me so I stand and wait and wait... and wait until a car is coming my way but it's not a busy road so sometimes I end up RLJ'ing and riding up the bridge on the pavement on the right (there are steps on the left).

How do I make it see me? I have tried different positioning and even waving my arms (but I look like a proper goon and the folks in the pub must have a right old laugh).

Any ideas (am not sure whether red-light changers actually work or whether they're legal?)

cheers

Maybe you need to wear a new suit to attract its attention ....

the sensor is under the road more than likely. write to the council and tell them that until they fix the issue you will be forced to cycle through the red light with caution due to it not working properly.

Yeah I couldn't see anything on the signal...I've had trouble with a traffic light like this for years although it has a sensor on the top of it...Is there a grid in the road?

There has got to be something if it is sensing cars....

A lot of "On-Demand" traffic lights usually work off wires buried in the road, so waving isn't going to help. If you take the streetview thing you linked to and rotate it through 180 degrees (i.e. look behind you), you can see rhomboid shaped grid of lines on the road, this usaully indicates the buried wires. That, plus the lack of a visible detector on the lights themselves makes me think thats the case here.

They work by detecting the change in the electromagnetic field of the wires when a metal object (i.e. car) passes over them - a steel framed bike may be enough to trigger it (or may not - depending on how sensitive these ones are). Apparently, riding on the lines can increase your chances of being detected.

If you have an aluminium or carbon bike though, I'm not sure if it'd work. Maybe strap some powerful magnets to your bike. Or tow a large steel trailer.

Aha, so that's the idea behind this... Shipping weight is half a pound tho

I have the same problem here: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&s...=EMqYi0iLg-JWbHoSVqsF6w&cbp=12,170.26,,1,6.01
If I want to use the right turn lane where the people carrier minicab has stopped across the line, it'll only change to Green if the loops in the road have detected a car. I've tried riding along them but I think there's not enough metal in my carbon bike to change the lights, although that used to work sometimes with my aluminium bike (but not here though).

Fortunately I can either go straight on and turn left later, or as the crossings here are toucans, with a person and a bike on the pedestrian lights, I can dismount, cross the line, remount and then ride across the junction on the crossings and rejoin the road after the junction.

I don't ever skip the dismounting/remounting bit after checking for police cars or carefully skip the island on the road on the right and ride over the broken edged hatched area instead to join the road more conveniently all at walking speed so as to maintain some moral if not strictly legal standing, oh no not ever!

Not sure of the long term health effects of a giant magnet though, i am no health expert mind;)

e answer is: Not when used correctly. But if used incorrectly, magnetism can further stress a site (muscle, joint, bone, nerve) already stressed. It is a very specific science and must be applied correctly. In basic physiology, (Dr. Robert Becker, The Body Electric) it has been found that a traumatized site immediately sends a signal to the brain which in turn sends Negative energy to heal the site. Bio Negative Magnetic energy is simply an amplified form of the body's natural electrical healing energy. When Bio-North Negative energy is applied on the Negative Polarity of the site, the energy supports and increases the body's ability to reduce swelling and pain. Positive [Bio-South] energy creates acidity in the blood and increases the same charges as free radicals. Using Negative field energy has been shown to help and normalize the alkaline/acidity balances where applicable. It has been found that the Positive field is useful in specialized circuits and sparingly used in normalizing hypo [slow reacting] organ/glands.

The proper magnetic field, the proper energy, and the proper placement are critical for correctly increasing the electromotive energy of the distressed tissue at the problem site (such as carpel or tendonitis). The use of both polar fields in a device such as a necklace or bracelet or multi-polar pads for joint application has been found to give out the wrong energy and/or a lack of the proper energy to support normalization of health and is against the scientific findings and measurement of electromotive pathways in the body.

Warning - there are bi-polar and multi-polar pads that are sold for pain relief. Scientifically, when both poles are together, the field emitted will have a 7-14% aggregate of bio south positive energy since it is the expanding pole. Positive energy is the body's weakened energy from trauma or stress. The bi-polar or multi-polar pad's Positive energy works against acquiring the proper negative energy potential.

Waits for a medical professional to give me a good "correcting "

Its hard to tell from google but that does look to be an inductive loop in the tarmac (the black parallelogram that runs of at an angle from the stop line with another black line from it top left, in this picture corner). Moss make sure you pass directly over it, preferably in the middle (both long sides of the parrallelogram) and that'll hopefully trigger it if not, its either dammaged or not sensitive enough for bikes and you'll need to contact the council.

Yeah, I see it - I'll give it a go, maybe stop over it?

thanks
