How do I uninstall a program (on Vista)?

Hi all,

I'm trying to delete a program from my pc (running vista).

I go through the normal route of Control Panel, Programs & Features, then selecting the program from the list, then clicking 'uninstall/change'.

when I do this, however, I get a message

"Sorry, you don't have the right permissions to complete this action. Please contact the Administrator of this computer in order to continue."

I can uninstal other s/w without any problems.

Any ideas?

What is CrapCleaner? Sounds dodgy!

They've dropped the Crap bit, its now CCleaner; its been out for years I think it was first reccomended to me on the old CC site; what does sound dodgy is 'clickpotato'

I think it is trying to tell you that you must be logged in as a administrator to complete the uninstall. Does your computer have more than one account on it, or have you set up your own account as a user only?

Ah forget that, I've just Googled "click potato" and it seems to be adware. You could try Anti Malware bytes, which is free or try the MS malicious software tool.

My Symantec is saying that site is safe.

Try Revo Uninstaller.

Most programs leave stuff behind when you uninstall them and it was causing me some problems.

A pal recommended this to me and it finds all sorts thats still left even after uninstallation.

I've got rid of ClickPotato now (I'll call it 'Spud-u-don't-like').

I did a 'system restore' to a date just prior to when it was installed (from program, accessories, system tools, system restore).
