My commute is urban to rural to urban, so you might be better with a simple mixed urban/rural commute type as people often ride from one town to another but have rural inbetween.

Bit stumped by the 'do I ride at night' question- I commute home at 4pm which lasts til 5pm so in the winter yes it's dark, but in the summer no I don't tend to go for night rides- so I went for occasionally.

Only additional comment I would make would be that I have a choice of bikes and some of the answers differ between bikes (e.g. Panniers vs Backpack vs Saddle Bag)
