How do you let a driver know that they have annoyed you with their bad driving ? you cannot shout because they will not hear you so what sign or signal etc etc do you make to let them know how you feel about their driving

I dont bother as it wont make any difference and is more likely to get me aimed at.

Keep calm, accept the world is full of idiots and move on.. generally faster than they are

i TRY not to bother either.....and at the end of the day if they are driving that badly they wont be the type to be using their mirrors anyway so wont see any hand gesture you make .

I have been known to rant and shake my head to myself on occasion though:crazy:

Took the words right from my finger tips...Whats the point 99% of the time they know what they've done, and they don't give a damm..

either they're decent and know what they've done was wrong and will try not to repeat it, (we've all had a moment we're not proud of) All you'll be doing by giving them the finger or whatever is playing to the negative stereotype of the arsey cyclist at war with the world.

or they're an a***hole who won't care and you'll probably just give them a laugh at your discomfort.

I used to give the middle finger but that was annoying too many drivers (and causing them to stop). I now just raise my hand or try to be sarcastic about it.
I do find it difficult to zip my mouth and tape my hands to the handlebars though. An agressive reaction is just typical of my behaviour.

What I get often is people pointing to the left. I approached someone who did just this in calm manner at a set of traffic lights. She claimed that she didnt point left, I apologised and we carried on. When I reviewed the footage, it was clear that she was pointing left. It was the first time in a which that I had approached someone and I was happy I did it in a calm fashion.

I just imagine I'm firing a Uzi at them, then 2 seconds later get back to the business of riding my bike. Anything North of simply ignoring them achieves nothing at best, leads to nasty confrontation at worst.

A car pulled out onto a roundabout one early morning and nearly hit me. She ended up in front of me and I gave her the finger! Having done that I realised that I didn't feel any better for doing it, I felt a bit stupid really. And, to cap it all, she didn't see me. What a waste of time.
I have now tried to perfect a look where I look on them in pity and give a little shake of my head. It works in most situations whether I am driving a works lorry, car or on a cycle. I copied it from my wife who looks at me the same way.

Lets face it some drivers just do it to get attention. I had a Van driver blow his horn milliseconds before he made a dodgey close pass. I have no idea why? I was in secondary position, there was ample space to pass.. flashed my light at him and carried on my way. I guess he found out I'm sleeping with his wife?

I often find they don't know what they've done. It 's the SMIDSY syndrome where drivers don''t think outside the world of driving. I had a couple of near misses this week and one driver pulled into a petrol station seconds later whilst another pulled up at a long visible traffic queue.

I was going to have a word when it dawned on me that neither would've done a deliberate dangerous pass if they knew they were going to come to an immediate stop and get an earful. So I put it down to a lack of spatial awareness and rode on.
