How do you like your cables routed?

I noticed a local framebuilder, Kinetics had a few options for routing cables. I would default to brakes up top, gears below... But I can see the attraction of a clear top tube.

Do you have any clear preference?

Thanks to this internal crap I've got a pinched gear cable and no time or tools to fix it. I don't see the point.

Probably because they think they're getting a fantastic aerodynamic advantage and also haven't had to replace the cables yet.

Like the weight weenies who obsess about the weight of exposed thread on long bolts, while ignoring their own lard reserves?

Bicycles are a wonder of simplicity, a near perfect engineering solution to the problem of turning humans into wheeled vehicles. Every thing that detracts from that simplicity should be avoided or eliminated, not embraced in the questionable name of fashion.
