The only thing that I leave on is the tool bag on the seat post. All lights come with me. It means taking a receptacle to put everything in, so I don't run errands or leave my bike unattended very often. I'm lucky that I can wheel it into the disabled toilet at school (only cyclist).

reelights which are permanent fixtures. Plus an chinese import LED that also screws on. I remove the battery pack. Everything else gets taken off.

bike store at work (where all staff have had a crb check) is security-pass controlled with cctv, but lezyne lights and garmin still get taken off and brought in. the topeak pump and hi-5 bidon that contains the toolkit remain on the bike and, thus far, have not attracted attention from thieves, but even they come in if the bike is overnighting…

I worked at a large bank. Everyone one in our building would have been well compensated. Very well compensated. Nice bikes in the basement. The only thing that was stolen I heard about was the batteries out of someone's rear lights. Some arse must have gone down to cycle home, found his rear light flat, and rather than take a 5 minute walk to the supermarket in road shoes, just decided to steal some from another bike.

It won't surprise you to learn that bank was heavily involved in the Libor scandal

Don't leave expensive lights on the bike.

My battery lights come off easily (Hope V1 takes 2 seconds, Smart rear 1 second, VDO computer 1 second). Dynamo lights are bolted on using loctite to make casual removal difficult.

I don't even leave cheap lights on the bike. You can't buy new lights at 9pm at night when you get back and find they've gone and you have a 3.5 mile cycle home...

My lights and pump are pretty old and battered and were never remotely "top of the range". They would still cost roughly £130 to replace and could be nicked in a few seconds. It's not worth leaving them on the bike.
