I can't believe we've got this far through the thread without mentioning GT85. It disperses water and leaves a Teflon coat. I spray it on and wipe it off, paying attention to crooks and nannies, and make sure some gets into the cap screw heads.

I have silicone, lithium grease and copperslip which would be preferable lithium?
Copper slip is an anti-seize compound to use on threads, especially where you are using stainless bolts or screws in alloy. Lithium grease is better, good sticky waterproofer. Be judicious where you use it as it is a dust/grit magnet.

I thought that was like WD40, I have a few cans of GT85.

No, GT 85 is the perfect bike spray in my opinion. I use it as a solvent cleaner degreaser on some bits, but the PTFE film it leaves behind is much kinder than WD40. I literally spray it on and wipe it off all surfaces except the rotors on the MTBs. I dry the road bike thoroughly before waxing the paintwork and GT85ing any exposed metal. It also smells fantastic.

it's the little things like the tops of allenkey bolts, limit screws,

Pot of vaseline, get a dollop on your finger and push it into each socket on your bike, including philips screws on derailleurs etc. You'll hear a 'pop' as you push the vaseline in on the first push (sorry guys, trying to not make this sound like a sex act), then do it again to make sure the socket is full.

Vaseline is best, because when you do have a need to undo said bolt in future, you'll no doubt get some on your hands, just rub it in  Also, vaseline doesn't turn liquid. I do this on my bad weather bike.
