..new to cycling and as a forty something coming from a Xc & fell running background I have decided to get into cycling. Hopefully I can save my legs from moorland terrain and maintain a reasonable level of fitness and endurance thru cycling. I just need a bike.

Been researching for a few months now and narrowed it down to about 5 bikes, all ranging from £699 to £899. Didn't really want to spend £899 considering all the accessories I'd need on top, but I'm thinking a good bike to start will last me for a fair few years.

Planet X pro carbon 105 groupset Fulcrum Sport Racing wheelset,£899
Cube Peloton Race 2014 105 groupset, mavic aksium s wheelset, £699
Pinarello Neor 2014 Tiagra groupset, Shimano R500 wheelset, £885
Ribble Sportive Azzuro 105 groupset, aksium one or rodi airline wheelset, £899
Felt F75 105 groupset with FSA chainset, mavic cxp 22 wheelset, £711

Any thoughts on what would be my first bike would be welcomed.

Damn, I was going to suggest the 2014 f75 which you can get for 599 at merlin cycles and is the same bike as the 2015 one. But they only have size 58 left which would be too big I think.

Cheers for checking this out for us....I dropped merlin an email a couple of days ago to see if I could get away with the 58cm. Bex at Merlin said I would definitely need the 56cm - and coz they're last years model they're not getting anymore in. Best Bike shop has a 56cm in but for £711...would you still recommend the F75 at this price against the others in my list?

Thanks Torvi, I popped into the Barnsley Planet X store a few week back with the intention being sized up on the RT58 but ended being sized and priced up on the pro carbon. Both bikes looked good in store.
