I'm stuck between the Boardman MTX 8.6 hybrid bike and a mountain bike.

I'm going to be commuting but it's one 1.2 mile and partly off-road.

Whenever I'm not using it for commuting I'll off-road using gravel paths, forest trails and canal paths etc.

Nothing too extreme but I'm unsure whether the boardman mtx 8.6 hybrid will handle it..any experience??

I think it will be fine, do you really need the suspension fork?
The frame is good, the Drivetrain although base level are OK, Brakes are also good enough.
I have had the Boardman hybrid Non MTX for 4 years, absolutely no problems
I am sure it will be just as reliable

Well, I bought this exact bike today, after an incident with my other Boardman Hybrid.
This one is very comfy, the frame is MTB geometry as opposed to Road bike geometry of my other Hybrid.
It's a lot easier on my crumbling wrist bones too.
It also has bigger Rims/tyres.
Initial impressions are good, the groupset is entry level but works absolutely fine.
with discounts I paid £491 in total.
