TBH I am researching for a friend who has £400 max' to spend. He wants a bike that will be good on road or canal/gravel paths.
The Decathlon blurb (pretty poor information IMO) doesn't seem to show it but it has Sora 9 speed tripple on..........I think this means 11-32 which will get him up any hills.

Giant are offering 20% off remaining 2015 bikes so I will look to see it they have a better value bike but would appreciate any thoughts/recommendations etc.

Yep decent but road rather than gritty path oriented on 25mm tyres. If regularly using paths, I'd want 28s or 32s. I found a recent ride on a towpath on 23s pretty scary!

The spec' shows it will accept up to 32mm tyres.

Cassette's a 12-25 with a 50-39-30 chainset, giving a lowest gear of 30/25, roughly equivalent to 34/28 so overall same range as 12-28 on a compact. Probably still some capacity to fit a wider range cassette if needed.

Thanks..........where did you get that information ?
Please don't tell me it's in the Decathlon blurb and that I'm going senile
