I am enthusiastic about my cycling hobby.

My electronics hobby got killed off by me doing a degree in Electronics! (I have not designed or built any electronics hardware for over 30 years, and I have only repaired 4 or 5 bits of kit in that time, including the laptop that I am typing this on.)

My music hobby was pretty much still-born! I have lots of equipment (guitars, keyboards, mics, music software etc.) but it just sits there not getting used while I am outdoors riding my bike or indoors waffling in posts like this!

I am quite enthusiastic about cycling. I like to ride my fixie in town, and I like the occasional sportive and I like cycling holidays as long as they're not too strenuous. But that's about as far as it goes. I don't do bonkers stuff, like my mate who's always off to some event in the alps or the pyrenees, or race, or have a computer, or record anything. I'm quite enthusiastic about swimming. I do it most days, and miss it when I don't. I'm quite enthusiastic about reading and listening to music - I do both, every day, and certainly couldn't do without either. I'm quite enthusiastic about cooking - I enjoy it a lot, and eating the results, tho' I'm not massively adventurous, certainly nothing like those master chef types, and I really don't have any great interest in truffles or saffron. Beer is my life.

Must admit this cycling hobby of mine has managed to keep me going for a few years and has also filled up my garage as well as my life .

As others have said there is nothing better than being out on a bike on ones own just letting the world go by , it helps relax the brain etc etc .

The wildlife you see is amazing in the last 3 weeks i have seen at least 1 owl per ride on idea what variety of owl as not close or light enough to id them , several buzzards and yesterday i had a couple of munk jack dear run across the road in front of me

Don't be put off by RAYNET. Their reputation as a bunch of cardigan wearing adenoidal idiots is, by and large, well deserved. They're so friendly (not) their national organisation broke down and fragmented, and has only this year reformed. It won't last long - there'll be an argument over whether Murray Mints are better than Weathers Originals and the whole house of cards will collapse again.

Contact your local amateur radio club. Likelihood is they'll welcome you with open arms. There are also go some friendly radio forums out there, so it's worth a browse.

I do find myself talking quite enthusiastically about my cycling to anyone that's remotely interested. Lol.

Agree that cycling and wildlife watching go great together. Animals and birds don't seem as scared when you are on a bike so you seem to get more close up views.

A few of my local routes go over quite remote areas and I love watching and listening to the curlews and lapwings. The sky larks were singing the last sunny day I was out too. A few months to go yet, but I like listening for my first Cuckoo.

I like photography too, but it's a bit sporadic. I might have a spell when I try and carry a camera most days then it can get put down and forgotten about for ages. Do still get a buzz when I capture a shot I am really pleased with though.
