Seeing this thread pop up again.

2012 I was doing a 37 mile round trip commute every day
2019 it was down to 32 miles
2024 down to 28 miles
After a house move, Its now down to 17 miles, but does included taking a train. Though on a Friday when the weather is nice I do ride all the way home, a trip of 27 miles.
Have to say on one hand I did enjoy putting my body though longer and harder commutes, on the other hand, I bloody miss it but my body thanks me.

Wow, so much, I only have 3 miles one way, now 3 days a week, used to do 5.

Ive got lazy of late after an office move and doing 4miles to the Station and a 0.8 miles at the far end to the office. Preferring to lie in and use my evening for cycling local. For about a year I was getting off the train early and having an 11mile cycle (30miles round). The odd time I get off the train early at night and/or get on it a couple of stops down the line so my longest commute has been circa 41miles round (5 in the morning 36 at night).

My commute doubled this year due personal life changes and I now enjoy a 37 mile round trip using both the Bridgewater canal and Roe Green Loop line

Since moving the cycle commute has more-than halved to less than three miles each way if I take the most direct route.

Of course I don't take the most direct route; with town and back in the morning for breakfast making it about 7 and typically a load of meandering about the city after work for another 15-20 miles.

I suspect there will be days when I'll be glad of the shorter ride, however the biblical rain a couple of weeks ago wasn't enough to put me off the morning sausage quest

My shortest route is about 7.5 miles but I drag it about to about 9 each way most days. Pre C-19 I had a 15 mile hilly version to get the miles in, but now with more flexible work arrangements I can normally get a ride in midweek to make the numbers up. Currently taking the canal path 60% of the ride for less traffic interaction and some nice surroundings.

Quite a precient return to this thread as I've noticed that for the first time in nearly a year my rolling annual average is actually declining slightly - presumably because last year whilst living at home I had no choice but to do the 16 mile commute every day (unless I wanted to take the car all the way) whereas now when the weather's bad or I'm feeling shite I can do work and back in less than six miles.

It's such a nice day I can really feel the pull to just get out there for the sake of it again, however tonight that's definitely not going to happen due to other obligations, absolute exhaustion and a bastard of a saddle sore. Plus the sun's only going to last until half five in any case.
