Today, feck all - I'm poorly and haven't cycled for two weeks.

Generally at the moment, a hundred miles. Even without a bike computer, on both this summer's centuries I've karked it at exactly a ton.

You'll find plenty on here who do much longer day rides than that!

How many food/rest breaks? I reckon I could do 100miles easily but I doubt I'd go near the bike for a few weeks.

more people on here then you can imagine can do that distance and more.
I have only done 196. Had to cut short due to faulty gps and crap weather.

No idea, furthest to date is 112 mile. I get a bit bored when going any further than about 60-70 mile tbh. But I recon I could do go a fair bit over my current limit with adequate nutrition.

Longest to date is 140 miles but I'm not one for stopping that much so could probably manage more.

The real issue though, like average speed, is not some universal figure that applies everywhere to every situation. You say 60 miles and I can think of plenty of places where 60 miles would be more tiring than 120 elsewhere - the Pyrenees, the Alps, Exmoor, Dartmoor or in contrast somewhere very flat..? Where are you riding? What is the objective?

If the objective is to keep on riding further and further then you'll probably surprise yourself before too long as you obviously have a degree of base fitness already. But some go for endurance events/sportives where distance itself is of the essence and others prefer higher speeds over a shorter distance, so it all depends on what you want to achieve...

Im not really sure, my longest ride was 58 miles but was without a stop and was alone and bored by the end of it. If the weathers good and the terrains easy I think as long as you're well fuelled you can keep going for quite a way. Id be disappointed if i struggled to ride over 100 if i tried it.

My brother asked me this the other day. He's thinking of doing a challenge to raise money. 'How far in 24 hours'

He reckons 300 is doable but he did L'Etape this year and is doing it again...I on the other hand am not

My longest to date would be appx 120.......but that was 30 years ago! Recently I did 105 despite having been knocked off my bicycle by my kamikaze companion....he broke his wrist easily mended, I smashed my glasses (at £180 a pair not so easily mended) consequently we did the last 50 miles or so with me being virtually blind with a bleeding facial wound, painful shoulder etc. and he with a very dodgy wrist and bent handlebars...... This incident did demonstrate the benefits of wearing a helmet as mine was badly dented and his was completely trashed - so I am certain that we would have sustained worse injuries without them.
I reckon that barring collisions and strong headwinds I could manage 150 in a day.
