Sebastian Vettel claimed that Valtteri Bottas jumped the start at the Austrian GP yesterday, even though the track and car sensors (not to mention video) proved that he didn't. What he did was have a very quick reaction to, maybe even a lucky anticipation of, the starting lights. His reaction time is recorded as 201 milliseconds.

This episode got me curious about training for such a scenario and how quickly you could react to a given signal and I came across this online test while googling. My first go on the test put me at the reaction time of a 30yr old but after four more goes I had that down to 21yr old, and then...

So, as a bit of fun, how fast can you do it?

My first 'go' was 25 years old (which I'm happy with) but once I knew what to expect I got the 'not human' message - interestingly it was then quite consistent (around 265 milliseconds - in the 260 - 280 range but normally about 265-270) This was very annoying as you were quicker  Best was 252.

these days not that great but in a couple of in ride incidents where something happened leaving no time to anything other than shut my eyes, a subconcious reaction got the bike and me out of trouble, it was rather frightening the first time it happened, like someone else had done it

My new challenge is to wait long enough for it to report my actual age - it seems to think by my age I should think myself lucky I can see out of the virtual windscreen.
