I have never claimed for anything in my life however I have had tinnitus for a while now, prob for working many years in a noisy glass factory in the 80s and 90s.

I here and see so many of these no win no fee ones....can anyone pont me in the right direction as the best way forward.

Don't bother. Bloomin despise this compensation culture we have now.

Did you have a trade union where you worked? Or start by seeing a doctor, then get a referral to a specialist. Take it from there.

Google Citizens Advice and go to your nearest branch. It's free, and they'll be able to tell you what your options are. Don't go 'no win no fee' as your first move. They have their interests in mind, not yours.

Your case will hinge on whether you can track down your old employer, and their insurers at the time you were employed. Many companies have gone bust, merged, moved or changed names. Do you know anyone else who has made a successful case against them.
You will need to prove that the job was noisy, do you have any decibel readings? How do you know the noise damage was caused by work? Did you go clubbing a lot, attend rock concerts or other noisy hobbies?
Then you will need to show that they didnt offer any ear protection. If ear protection was offered and you chose to not use it, it will make the process harder.
There are plenty of solicitors that specialise in Employment Law, they aren't all no win, no fee types.

As much as I agree if you, one time I had the choice of working or not working in an environment where a generator was above my head and I lost hearing in my left ear for a few days so I would say sue the buggers:smile:

I wonder how much our granddads could have screwed out of the system if they had thought to sue the government for potentially causing damage to their hearing during the war.

My grandfather born 1908 and died 90 years later would support you 100% but how much of that was because of his conditioning by the media , he would not claim for anything as he thought it was unman like , he died after working down the pit then in a foundry till he was 70 , his pit pension was £12 a month btw , he was youngest of 3 brothers who all died in the ww1 and his mother died in child birth , his older sister brought him up as her own , his nephew ( Sandy Tough)served in the SBS and was a chief Inspector at Scotland Yard.
Do I respect my grandfather , Yes, he was and still is the most principled human being in my life but if he knew about the bankers , politicians , prime ministers and general Sociopathes that govern us he might well of had a different attitude!

There's lots of soldiers in their seventies, and probably younger ones too, who have received payouts for loss of hearing from live ammo army exercises when wearing ear defenders was not the norm.
