The point you are trying to make is? I am not in that league but I charge well for the work I do, I am sure you did the same.

I don't disagree that if someone wants to pay then good luck to them and to her.

Just because I don't disagree doesn't make the story any less interesting.

....if such high profile singers as these are willing to perform at Russian oligarch weddings, and it's considered routine and not of any note, then for sure I'm out of whack with the modern world of showbiz. I find it hard to imagine either of them did it because they actually needed the extra money, so what drives them? Could it be that no matter how much you have it's never enough?......

I think you'd be surprised how much money the rich need. Obviously 'need' is relative here! But they earn a fortune during their peak, but the expensive houses, yachts etc. Get used to a lifestyle. When the income drops they need to do more to keep the lifestyle going.

I'm not saying we should sympathise but they will want and need the money.

So what's the wealth threshold beyond which one shouldn't accept work? Hopefully a big chunk of it will come to us anyway in the form of tax.

...heh heh, to quote Seasick Steve 'I started out with nothing, and still got most of it left'.
Can remember years ago back in the office when the Lottery started up, and we were all in a syndicate, be talking about how much we'd need to win and not have to work again. Some phenomenal figures were being bandied about, but of course that was to maintain a certain lifestyle in the UK. There are however much cheaper places to live, and so it's all relative I guess. I never dreamed of having yachts or expensive houses, so my threshold is decidedly low......

You are looking at this story the wrong way round. Rather then having a pop at 2 singers getting paid for work. You should rather be looking at the story of rich oligarchs who's money was probably swindled from the Russian people paying such a huge amount of money just to satisfy a family members lasciviousness. .

This

At the height of their powers their earnings are enormous. Being the type of folk they are, and given they assume it's going to last forever, they build a lifestyle based on spending what they're earning (like most of us do). Fast forward a few years and the earnings are reducing but they still want to keep the lavish lifestyle. So they get into stuff like these private performances to keep the moolah rolling in
