How long does airport baggage take to come?

I will shortly be driving up to smelly awful congested London to Heathrow Airport to pick up my GF.

I know the predicted arrival time for the flight, but how long typically does it take baggage to come off a long-haul flight? She is coming from the Far East on one of those super-huge Boeing 77777(etc) planes.

I want to time it right so I'm not hanging around for ages (hopefully!), seeing as I'll be driving 1.5 hours up from lovely rural clean 'Aamshrr.

About three weeks if my Mum's last flight back is any kind of indicator.

Depends on the terminal, but anything under 45 mins from touchdown to exit is good

Depending on the time of the day (many flights from the Far East arrives well before 7am, when there is no queue, and often nobody manning Customs!). My experience is 1 hour plus or minus 30 minutes.

Hmmm ... I'll go for 45 minutes as an estimate!

Nobody manning customs at 7am? I was wondering how I might be able to get seven suitcases full of heroin into the country!

It's much easier living 15 minutes from Heathrow.

45 minutes is probably a good time...i always work on the principle of 1 hour from disembarking to actually getting out the doors of the airport.

I'd get there a bit earlier and get a coffee. It's not good for Brownie points if you're held up on the road and she's hanging around for half an hour!
