Me, I started in February 1972, so only 44 years and 5 months. Still enjoy most days and cannot see a way to retire so just as well that I do.

I started work in 1974 for a year, then studied for three years, before working through from 1978 to 2011 full time. I worked part time until June this year and now I'm fully retired!! So 39 years........
Did you make it past your apprenticeship?

1976.
No idea what I wanted to do, no great school results to speak of...parents in the services meant we moved regularly, so was never at one school for more than a couple years or so.
Little chef was my first job at 16..moved onto the building trade, just labouring.
Into the food industry at 19 as an engineering storeman, then administrator and buyer. Moved onto the tools with a new job at the relatively late age of about 42, found what I truly enjoy, spannering.
So about 40 years worth.

Various jobs... Cleaning cars, Hospital Porter, pig farmer, health care assistant between 1973 and 1976 when I joined the Navy

Left in 1995 and took a 1 month Locum post in my present department

Started 1968 at 15 years old with nothing worthwhile for qualifications. Jacked it in at 55 (too early with hindsight!) so 40 varied years including ice cream man, car sales, stockbrokers clerk, senior financial management.

31 years in this job. I have only had 2 jobs, not including paper round and Tesco during college. Its been good on the whole and I got to travel to some place that I would not probably have seen otherwise.
