Maybe future caravans will come with a built in battery that provides extra range for the towing vehicle when they're hooked up together?
The onboard caravan battery would then charge up on site when the mains supply is connected to the caravan.
Think I'll patent the idea.....
How about the whole roof of the caravan is a big solar panel.

I've always disliked caravanners and when my elder sister was on a cycling holiday in the Dales and was side-swiped into a ditch by one who overtook carelessly, my dislike was strengthened. She was knocked unconscious and suffered serious trauma and about four months later suffered her first round of MS symptoms. She had a miserable 25 years of adult life and died a few days before her 50th birthday. Rightly or wrongly, I blame that driver.

Blame that particular driver by all means but don't tar everyone with the same brush.

I*m afraid I do, mostly. Irrational yes because I'm sure some caravanners are excellent drivers; you have to be to tow something that size around.

It's as irrational as some car drivers hating all cyclists....and we all know what we cyclists think of that type of attitude.

Well, three of the scariest passes I've ever had were from caravans. I hold nothing against caravans though, well, just a lighter.

It's the driver; not the vehicle.

Some road users, in all categories, seem unaware of what's going on around them.
They're not towing a 1 ton white box though. I'd widen my criticism to people towing large trailers in general. Like the bloke who pulled out on me in a van. I thought, I'll miss him but that feckin trailer is gonna be close!

So, everyone towing a caravan or a trailer is generally unaware of what they are towing?
I don't think that's an argument that would stand up.

It's not an argument I was making. I was responding to your 'some'. The trouble with, some, caravanner's, over, some, car drivers is a consequence thing. On a scale of ooopsie to farkING HELL, caravans close passes come closer to the latter.

I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood you when you said - 'I'd widen my criticism to people towing large trailers in general' - I took that to mean more than 'some'.
