I've lost three or four rears. Usually a level crossing or cattle grid, or one of those bits of nubbly concrete they put down on cycleways, vibrates one off, and either I don't notice, or a following car crushes it. If I haven't noticed, I notice when it gets dark, and find the wreckage on the way home...

I had one firmly bolted on, but the lens fell off. There are some lights where the lens, reflector and batteries are all one (heavy) unit. The whole lot comes off in a lump, leaving you with only the useless rear casing.

Grrr.

Mrs Uncle Phil's had one nicked.

Was that the old or the new bracket ?
I haven't lost my cateye yet (old bracket) touch wood but they do seem a bit big/ heavy for the bracket in general, I only use them in winter as back up to my main lights.

I have lost Cateyes on the front from the old style and the new style bracket, and from the rear from the old style bracket...

I think it might be because I generally have the tyres rock hard and travel fast over poor road surfaces. I used to have a lot of problem with the pannier rack shaking loose until I got a tube of loctite...
