Most direct for me is 12.6 miles, but i only take that route if i'm late. Which is rarely.
Main route to work is 14.2 miles.
Main route home is 16.1 miles.
But i change my routes each day ever so slightly just to keep things fresh

I cycle everyday of the week unless something stops me from doing so, which is very rarely (such as doctors appointment or early meeting.

8.5 miles each way for me, not the most direct but it is the nicest and least traffic. Most of my route is on derestricted narrow country roads which at rush hour can be a bit hairy, so I am happy to have found a relatively quiet route. I have been known in the summer to add on 20 plus hilly miles in the Pennines, a good aspect of working in Macclesfield.

Currently 3 and a half miles each way. However, with lighter mornings and evenings that will go up to 6 and a half each way

6 there, 6 back (though the route is slightly different due to the one-way system in the city).

I took up cycling within the last 12 months and the change in my fitness has been dramatic, if a bit steady in the progression. Now I glide up hills I used to struggle up with my chest almost exploding, up on the pedals because my legs weren't strong enough to turn the cranks. Now I have been putting some miles in with training rides I'm starting to see a good improvement. Why don't you try extending your commute down some country roads just for fun, fitness and training?

I stay in a city, well pretty much a large town - but we have delusions! My commute is never going to be particularly pleasant, because of the traffic, and the time I travel, but a diversion to the country is unlikely to ever happen. My commute has turned into a flat out ten minute blast uphill.

I've been working on my fitness over the last year, and have lost a lot of weight, just not enough of the exercise on a bike. I usually go to the gym about twice a week and generally get in one 30 mile run on my road bike at the weekend. I'm hoping as it gets lighter to get some evening runs in as well, once rush hour has passed.

About 12 miles here.

Sometimes I'd like a bit less if the weathers been fowl or my legs ache, but generally it's just about the right length commute for me. Takes me 45-55 minutes and has a nice uppy downy hill at the start to get me awake

just over 5 miles each way, which takes about 15 minutes there and 25 minutes back - guess which way is up hill?

5 days a week and a nice 7 mile extra detour on the way on home on dry days when I am feeling good (which also avoids the hills!).
