I once put someone on my ignore list on another forum. The problem is that unless you are logged in, you can still see the posts. It only really works if you are in Current Affairs & Debates.

Never bothered to use the ignore list, as others said, what is the point of reading a discussion with missing bits.
However, there are members whose posts I tend to ignore, some because they are too clever for me, never understand what they are on about, others because their views/background, even manners  are so remote from mine that no interaction is possible.

I have about 6 but don't maintain the list - there are several on it who have left or got banned. I rarely login but lurk a lot and have got good at skipping through posts by certain individuals who often post tosh or stuff I am not interested in but even they sometimes post stuff worth reading. I find ignoring sub-forums is more useful.

The posters I like most are those who have a sense of humor and are good at defending their views without getting nasty or personal about it.

25. It got up to something over 60, then Shaun changed servers and I had to start again. The thing was.....when I looked at the old list I couldn't remember some of the people on it at all, which is testament to its success.

I've just run down the new list and I confess I have no idea why some people are on there - again, that would suggest that the list works for me. I know that somebody once accused me of lying and now sends personal messages to people asking them to intercede on his or her behalf (fat chance), that most of the others are just plain tedious, and one is a friend of mine. Quite a few are people that I would agree with about most things - it's never political, always personal, although the latter can sometimes spill over in to the former - hence a banning for creepiness.

It's not real life. It's the internet, and that should be amusing rather than tedious. I've not got the time or the inclination to wade through pages of stuff that makes me worry about the future of humanity.

I've just been checking the ignorees out, and, to my surprise, there's a hefty proportion from the 'Racing' board. No 'Commuting' regulars. One person (no longer with us) used to post on Campaigning and, while I agreed with him almost all of the time, he used to go on and on and on and on about the same thing for ever and ever........

I have nobody on my list, but did have bonj or BFF or whatever he called himself on while I was going through a humour bypass phase and took offence at some of his nonsense. Fortunately I had un ignored him before the start of his hilarious dustbin man thread.:biggrin:

One. I'm not one to shy away from exchanging opinions, but the member in question annoyed me so much I just had to ignore him. Can't say I miss his insights.....

I imagine I'll probably be on a few lists out there, and I have had one person on ignore before because they were getting on my tits at the time (and that's something coming from me), but now they aren't, so they can get on my tits once more, yay!!

I've not got the time or the inclination to wade through pages of stuff that makes me worry about the future of humanity.

Yep, that'll be me then!:laugh:

This is going to sound really self centred, but can I ask, purely out of curiosity, how many of you have had me on ignore before, and.... dare I ask..... why?
