Obviously city centre riders are going to raise an eyebrow but am I the only one with a lonely commute?

I'm not sure if I have found a quiet route but I see no other riders on a 24 mile round trip, literally in 5 weeks (200+ miles) of riding I've passed seen and passed 3 people.

I find I ride more enthusiastically when I spot someone to catch up, pass them and make sure I stay there but it seldom happens. Hopefully summer will bring some more out.

up a well used old railway line and into the back lanes, i see about 8 -12 normally.

Excluding kiddies and familys on bso, this would up it to 20 ish on a good day.

I see about 8 but they all go in the opposite direction. If I have an earlier start, about 06:00 and leave at 05:15, then I see about 14-15. Only 3 of us heading towards the city centre though. Still plenty of cars though.
The worrying thing is how few have decent, if any, lights on their bikes or hi-viz clothing (black seems a very popular colour). At least give yourselves a chance to be seen before they hit or swerve around you last second.

None. I see scallies on the pavement on their BSO wearing trackies and riding while texting, but that's it. I've seen since the start of the year (and admittedly i'm not a hardcore commuter) i've seen 3 people on bikes, and twice it was the same bloke on a Giant.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
See 2-3 both ways most days but they are all going to the same place, at work on days for 6.30 am ish and return at 4 pm with no other major business centres/offices on the way .

Depends on the time of day and year. Average per day is around 100-130. Summer it can be as high as 300.
I suspect that this is a false positive, as there is so much stop starting, you see the same people again and again and again.

Haha, I was waiting for a comment like that- having seen your vids with almost a continual looking stream I get lonely. Then again I'm sure hundreds of people bust out of the city to ride in the country at weekends so I can't moan, just funny different peoples perspective of 'commuting'

Maybe 4-10 regular cyclists depending on time of the day. This excludes the kiddies / chav's on the pavements which I don't really count.

What you do is when you spot pursuers is you ride hard for a bit, then slow so your pursuers think you have faded, let them catch you then as they get near to you, you raise the tempo slightly, they will do like wise determined to pass you at all costs going deep into their red zones, then as they creep by slot in behind them and get a lift all the way to work. Works every time. Did this at the weekend. Should have seen the look on the faces of these two roadie club riders when 2-3 miles down the road one of them looks behind to see a Brompton rider glued to his rear wheel. He couldn't drop me either. Never under estimate a Brompton.

Nb. When I say road I mean guided bus way.

Depends on time of year. In the winter I'm lucky if I see one. As the weather improves so do the numbers, but usually no more than 5 or 6. None of them ever seem to going in the same direction as me!
