Mmm, interesting use of the word pious, which means devoutly religious.

I suspect you meant sanctimonious, not that anyone in this thread has been.

Pious can be used if someone has a strong belief in something not necessarily religious and lets everyone else know about it.

But there's no need to get hung up on my use of language, I'm only feckin about.

Dictionaries give you an argument, but even accepting your meaning contributors to this thread have simply answered my question.

What has surprised me a little is there are a lot like me who are not fussed about having a drink at Christmas.

As speculated earlier, I expect that's something to do with a lot of us being 50+.

Had to have a few of these tonight as I'm up driving early today and there is a huge chance of getting stopped this morning in particular.

They were surprisingly okay. View attachment 155093

And as "isotonic" drinks go I suspect a bit more tasty that Lucozade or whatever

Last night was a couple of cans of excellent IPA from Vocation Brewery, a large glass of Malbec and to finish a very nice cognac whilst watching an episode of Homeland (which is building up nicely)

I will be having an occasional tipple in the evenings, especially as my lovely wife has treated me with an early xmas box

This has been an interesting thread to read, such a wide variation in festive drinking habits, from the people that don't touch the stuff, to the people who go mad for it.
I am in the first group and often wonder why people drink so much or so little.
