How much time should be allowed for patch glue to cure before inflating the tube?

My rule of thumb

If the tube is back on the wheel - a few minutes as the inside of the tyre will hold the patch on

If left off the wheel - no less than an hour

I have a handful of tubes, which rotate through the patching cycle.

On the bike
Waiting to be patched
Patched and hung up to see if they stay inflated
Sucked flat, rolled and taped tight sometimes with 2 tyre levers
In jersey pocket
On bike
etc.

The cycle rotates somewhat like the work shirts cycle except that Mrs Gti couldn't be persuaded to patch my tyres.

I'm afraid I can't add to that, I've never inflated a work shirt.

On the road if I have to repair, I try to use skabs.
At home, I wait until the rubber solution goes matt, stick the patch on and then fit.

Glue should cure before putting patch on, overnight is a bit excessive ;-)

I've done both extremes. Tube back in, with plastic still in place, before the glue/solution has had time to dry to the touch. And left them overnight, weighted down, before re-fitting the tube.

If possible I'll wait until it's dry to the touch on both patch and tube, before putting the patch in place.

I found the trick to using adhesive is to use as little as possible. If you slosh it on you will never get a patch to stick.
