Do you live in Beirut? Mine is usually about £300 fully comp. 51 years old, licence since 1983, 2006 Toyota Corolla 1600, full NCD, low risk post-code, clean licence etc..

I was thinking this too! Ours is also £300 for my wife (26) and I (29). Car is pretty old though, 1990 mazda 323 1.8, both clean licenses but both wife had a car written off last year and I did the same 4 years before so still have to declare it. Our postcode must be fairly low risk but we did state annual mileage of 8000, which we can easily do now we both commute by bike. Classic and kit car policies are often pleasantly cheap or if you have something that has an official owners club (even new cars) you can get nice discounts on insurance (10-15%). Like night train says my extremely amateur built kit car is only going to be about £400 p.a to insure.

I'll throw this one in - have you tried going through a broker? I know it sounds very old school, but if your situation falls outside the bounds of the mass-market online insurers, then brokers can sometimes wheedle a deal from somewhere. I'm currently paying £450 a year fully comp for a Porsche Cayman through A-Plan (other brokers are available). Most of the online insurers either did a 'computer says no' or gave silly numbers. The insurance even includes main dealer and approved bodywork repairs. Look out for maximum repair hourly rate clauses in the insurance smallprint if you care about the car - Swiftcover are notorious for this.

My KA is a 2004 and my mileage is well below 5000 a year, 3-4000 a year, if I didn't have the bikes it would be similar to yours.

yeah we will reduce ours next year to max 5000 to get it down even more, re-reading my post it was badly worded. We are probably massively under 8000 because we now both cycle to work every day. The only miles it racks up now are local utility miles e.g. to the tip and then long journeys to visit family. We have done bike+train a few times but its always a massive faff and we have family spread over a large area so the car is the best way to visit them all without having to use up all our holiday to go visit family.

Next year the long touring duties will be taken up by the kit car when its finished so the miles on the "normal" car will be even less. At a push we could probably manage without a car but as it costs buttons to run we will keep it and enjoy the occasional convenience it brings.

Probably never go with that shower again.
Cancelled direct debit by mistake (irrelevant reason) and received a "Default Notice Served under Section 87 of the consumer credit Act 1974" Dated 22 July. In the letter they say "Please call us by 15 July to make payment"

Normal procedure is to send polite letter first then escalate them.

Tossers

Just to give an even account, I have just had a conversation with their complaints department and the agree that the letter style is completely wrong and are changing it to a more polite way. They are also working to correct errors in dates as mentioned above.
And finally, they have refunded the last payment i made a gesture of good will.
