What would be a better way to remove these images? off the top of my head, it might be more sensitive to give people the tools to make the hashes themselves, which they could send to facebook, rather than sending the images.

Even then a human would have to review it at some point to see what matches they find in case someone sends a hash of Trump or something.

It's not a cure all for revenge porn, because that is not possible for FB to achieve. The distribution of revenge porn can happen on any system, not just FB.

What FB can solve, and what is often most traumatic for the victim, is having the images distributed to their friends and family on FB. This is most likely to be a recovery than preventative control - you've found out someone is already circulating an image of you, you want to stop them from doing it on Facebook and you know what the image is.

From FBs point of view, they want to help and this is one way they can. They should be applauded for trying and ignore the idiots who don't know what they're talking about.

Aren't victims usually silent? That's what makes them victims,as they feel they cant speak out or change the situations..
