I just bough this off of the big auction site.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220273679357

It's been 15 years since I bought a road bike, back then it was Reynolds 501.

I think it's pre-2002 as I cannot find it on Specialized's site.

The 105 GS looks different to that on the Shimano site too.

It has chrome tops to the CF Kinesis 2 fork.

I'm guessing its 2000 ish.

It's been well looked after, no cracks or corrosion.

Any ideas?

I thought it was a good buy for £249.

I don't know, but 105 has been 10sp for 3 years now I think and was 9sp for quite a while before that, so 8sp makes it quite a few years old.

Not that that's a problem - if it works, it'll be fine, you don't actually need 10sp.

The Kinesis forks are an upgrade, originally it probably had cromoly or alloy folks.

My LBS had an 07 Trek 1000 for £369. The 105 GS on this bike does feel better than the Sora Tiagra set on the Trek. Everything appears to be 105, including the hubs and callipers. I suspect it has been upgraded from the original GS as manufacturers always put a mixture of components on stock bikes.

It feels nice, the shifters seem to be more solid than the latest 105 GS which look as if they have more plastic in them.

The £120 saved buys a bit of kit.
