Hi,

Looking at buying a road bike and found what I thought was a good deal on a Felt F5C full carbon bike.

It's up for £330 which seems a good deal considering it cost about £1300 new albeit a few years back!

However the scratches to the rear of the bike or as described 'damage' is slightly concerning me...

Does anyone have any advice - is it still Ok would you think. If it is just heavily scratched I think it's a bargain? Or should any damage to the carbon/forks be a bad sign of things to come, i.e. It snapping and me going ass over tit!

Hm, I'm a bit concerned that the damage seems to wrap around the tube. I think I'd pass on that bike personally.

He's not good with routine maintenance either judging by the state of the chain and cassette. Don't bother with it, plenty of bikes out there in far better condition. You can afford to be very picky.

Fast and careful!
Carbon has a tendency to deteriorate on the inside with any impact,so what looks minor on the outside could be breaking out on the in side ,saying that a repair is £120 for something like that,
Always check a carbon frame on buying with a careful eye,
With out a repair I wouldn't ride it

That's a seat stay not a fork,

That could *possibly* be repaired by a specialist,.but then the frame would need a repaint any way. The whole bike lacks a patina of loving ownership, so even without the damage I think I'd walk on by. No shortage of used bicycles out there.
