I first read Molesworth book when I was a tiny pupil in my early teens. I wasn't at a 50s prep skool but *whispers* at a comprehensive in the 70s and I've always found them very funny, and still do, with great Ronald Searle illustrations.

'It is only a world of make believe' he repli 'you must face up to reality'
'Reality' sa Molesworth 2 'is so unspeakably sordid it make me shudder'
He take a bullseye and pater lite his pipe.
The matter is closed.
