Speaking as an identical twin, I agree with you!

I know several identical twins as well, for an anomaly which is supposed to be rare you do tend to see a fair number?

* Scratch that, just found out the generally accepted average is 1 in 285 which when you think about it isn't as random as it first appears *

When my son was 5, a pair of identical twins joined his class. He told me "there are 2 new boys in my class and they have the same heads"
My sister teaches Saturday music school. She kept getting two girls confused. After a while she said exasperatedly "heavens, why do I keep getting you two muddled up?" They looked at her pityingly and said: "Duh, miss, we are identical twins".

Because of being one herself, she hadn't clocked that it was weird to have two girls in her class who were essentially indistinguishable from each other.

I've read that identical twin boys are actually more alike than i/t girls - can't remember where and it may be tosh. The idea is that we females have two X chromosomes so can activate the same gene on a different chromosome, but boys HAVE to get their Y genes from their Y chromosome and their X genes from their X chromosome. I've known adult male identical twins who are spookily alike, whereas I think we females can become quite different as we age. Sister and I have a bit of variation physically but almost exactly the same face and voice.
