Tyre choice is very personal, some people like a slippery tyre, makes them feel alive.
Much like pedals, buy ones you like, sell the others.

Would you like tyres so slippery that when you pedal you wheel spin and have no grip on corners at all when wet?

The point of the post was to let the company know my experience with the tyre and to raise a potential safety issue .

I've not found UltraSports to be that bad in the wet. Never managed to spin a wheel, certainly.

Not quite sure what you expect from a set of budget tyres. They're not about to start supplying them with Pro Race4 and the Conti tyres are most likely no worse than any other budget tyre.

I'm assuming you've scrubbed the tyres in before complaining about their performance in the wet?

I think people are jumping down my throat assuming i am whinging and after something, i merely sent an email stating my experiences with the tyre to the company .
The tyres had done around 500 miles so they are definitely scrubbed in .

As stated everyone's tyre choice is personal and i found them lacking to the point where i felt that the company that fitted them to an otherwise excellent bike might like to be made aware .
If you like the tyre by all means go ahead and send them " i love this tyre" letter.

I feel you have a fair point and i would as a customer manager be pleased that a customer has brought to my knowledge a concern.I have been in touch with Spesh over a repair to what as layman i think is a major part of a bike which has needed changing after 17 months wear and tear. This is my fifth bike since o took up cycling ,This is also the most expensive and its the first time a fault like this has happened.Ianrauk had one that lasted only 12 months.I tried to be cheeky and got knowhere.i did try for a freebie. So i shall keep a record of it's lifespan.
Good on you for bringing your concerns to the company.I don't think a certain Mr Boardman would want one of his customers sliding under the wheels of a car, something like he did a few years ago on the Tour.

I have/had those tyres on my boardmans.. they where pretty bad and punctured loads I changed em after 300 miles. What was even worse than the tyres where the brake pads. I needed to change the brake pads at around the same time as the tyres, they had pretty much worn out and started to wear the rims as well. Stopping performance in the wet was shocking with these pads too infact in the dry they were pretty rubbish too! For a bike that costs £1000 i think thats really bad, especially when the replacement pads only cost about £7 and are still going strong after 1500 ish miles.

I felt that was worth complaining to boardmans about, I still feel its worth complaining about. At the time I searched around and could only find halfords customers services contact info so I didn't bother... wish i did though!
