How to identify rare music?

A Nigerian friend gave me a CD of really lovely music, which I think must come from Mozambique or Angola because it's sung in Portuguese. It could also be Brazilian or even Portuguese, of course. He can't remember who the artists were and my son's phone app, which identifies music, doesn't recognise it. I would really love to know the names of the two artists so I could go off and listen to more of their stuff. This has been bugging me for a couple of years now.

Any ideas?

If I'm stuck trying to identify a song, I google some of the lyrics.

I appreciate that's a little difficult with a foreign language song but maybe you can have a go?

Edit: that's assuming it has lyrics! I'm not sure gooling 'do de do da dum' would get you very far!

I've tried that; I don't speak Portuguese (Spanish, yes) and the only words I can make out clearly are the refrain "Oh, mi amor, mi esperanza...." and you wouldn't believe how many songs contain that line!

Post it on YouTube and see if anyone knows. You could even link to it on here, my wife is Brazilian so here Portuguese is quite good................

So, when you say "and you wouldn't believe how many songs contain that line", if the answer is more than "none", then you are right, I wouldn't believe you.

You could try YouTubing it, as many uploads have the lyrics as well as the words, but Cuan Hermoso by Danilo Montero seems to be the most popular response.

That may be because esperanza is spelt with a c with a little hook on it rather than a z.
