I was sat in the café t'other night, chatting to the staff about how things are, as you do.
It was a quiet night and the only punter was a chap perhaps in his 30s, smartly dressed, who had
an extremely expensive Nikon camera that must have been new that day judging by how he was playing with the controls. Also scattered on his table where a few travel guides, Thailand was one I could see.
After 1/4 or so of an hour, with him not ordering anything, a tall elegantly dressed lady parked an Audi outside, came in and went to his table. Meanwhile he had put his things under his seat. He stood up, they looked each other up and down, the parrots looked at them, they kissed politely on both cheeks.
They chatted politely for a little while, they looked at the menu together.
"This is obviously a first internet date," I thought. "He'll push the boat out to impress her."
Gi-Gi, the waitress, went to take their order, only the man spoke.
Gi-Gi went past me to the bar, a smirk on her pretty face.
She returned to their table with a tray holding:-
A can of Coke and two glasses.
Madame's lips narrowed, she started to take more interest in the parrots than M. Miser.
She finished her half of the coke and went to the toilet, returning, she deliberately walked past her table, with her nose firmly in the air, to have a closer look at the parrots. She asked me a couple of questions about the parrots, said "bonsoir" to the waitress and me and left.
