These things are a lifesaver. I'm right on the coast so the breeze does tend to have a bit of a nip with it. Then again I have rosey cheeks anyway so it does get to me.If it is really cold I wear a gore balaclava, similar to this;

but it has a mesh around the mouth which means I can still drink from a water bottle.
If it's not too cold, just a buff pulled up per as others.
Skull cap and two buffs, one for lower neck, and one for face. Hate to say it, but moisturise after. My face dries out really bad in prolonged cold spells.
