I was out with Alun and Svendo on the Spring into the Dales audax earlier in the year when we encountered the owner of that bike pushing it along near Gargrave. We stopped to see if we could help and he said that we could, but only if we were carrying a spare set of bicycle forks with us!swee said:
He'd ridden down some very steep, fast descents on that bike and then noticed that his front mudguard was rubbing when he was riding along a flat stretch of country lane. On inspection, he discovered that his forks were corroded through and about to snap off!
