How to stop my sister text-driving?

She lives in Paris, ah! I've seen women on the backs of motorbikes doing their make-up, my taxi driver eating her dinner as she drove me to the airport at the same time as pointing things out to me, undertaking the queue and then holding a mobile phone argument with her husband iin between all of it. Fantastically expressive language French, even I got the argument and my French is rudimentary.

Well, we were driving in London when it came up. I can understand how she might pick up bad driving habits.

I'll paste the text driving vid on her facebook and see how she reacts ;)

Sisters, eh? Can't live with them, can't bludgeon them to death and bury their body behind the allotments.

I have 2; pity me.

Just take her car and crash it into the side of her house... then explain that it was better than her doing it whilst texting and possibly killing people at the same time. Then take her phone and insert it sideways into her rectal orifice. Use a rusty fork if any extra purchase is required.

I would give some rather nastier advice if she wasn't your sister. ;)

Have you tried a different approach to the cricket bat method. An appeal to her that you worry about what would happen to her daughter, your niece, when she is banged up for killing someone on the road. Could be a child - they don't look on the roads either. A child like your niece. Lay it on thick - a quivering lip perhaps.

depends on your sister of course - she might just laugh at you. In which case go for the cricket bat.

A lacrosse stick.

Sorry, that's Canadian, but it sounds French.

Peer pressure, get all friends and family to ask her not to text them while she's driving.  Get the people who share a car with her decline to do so because they've heard she takes risks.

It's a hard one because it's still seen by many as acceptable.  The comparison with drink driving is a good one, many people saw that as acceptable a few years ago.  But the punishment doesn't fit the crime and demotes phone use to a slap on the wrist, it sends the wrong signal.

My sister does NOT like being told what to do or what to think, and she holds grudges.

And she wins through this tactic how?

Just tell her it really upsets you that she is endangering her life and the lives of other people by texting whilst driving. If she holds a grudge, let her - but don't back down because of it.
